This old filing cabinet that was knocking around our office was ready to be chucked, but after a quick trip down to Hobbycraft, we were ready to transform her into an eye-catching focal point.

After removing the drawers, we applied 3 layers of good quality spray paint (in a well ventilated area!) in a vibrant yellow shade. While this was drying, using a paler paint, we roughly sprayed a couple of coats of colour over the card slots on the front of each drawer.

Using a sheet of A3 we sketched out the outline of the drawers to make a template which we then used to cut the correct size out of our floral scrap-booking paper. Make sure you cut the sheets to the exact size of the drawer, we thought about leaving an extra half inch around the edges that we would fold down but the finish was much better with a clean-cut.

After some generous applications of Mod Podge glue (creates a good bond between paper and metal) and some careful placing, our drawers came to life.

Then all we needed were some quirky ceramics to adorn our new fun focal point!
